Getting the Most From Your Layout

Start With Your Focal Pieces

Place your most important or eye-catching items first. These usually go at eye level on the middle shelf. Build outward from there. If you have a centerpiece figure or a rare card, give it breathing room. Crowding it next to other items defeats the purpose of a showcase.

Watch Your Spacing

Leave at least half an inch between items. This gives each piece room to stand out and makes it easier to pick things up without knocking neighbors over. For coins in capsules, one inch of space looks cleaner. For action figures, check the widest point of the pose, not just the base.

Group by Theme or Color

The theme color picker in this builder is not just for looks. It helps you spot grouping problems before you start moving things around. Try keeping all red-tagged items on one shelf and blue on another. Or mix them deliberately for a rainbow effect. The visual preview makes this easy to test.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

Putting the tallest items at the back seems logical, but it blocks everything behind them. Tall items work best in the center or at the front of a shelf. Another common error is filling every inch of space. Empty space is part of a good display. It gives the eye a place to rest and makes each item feel intentional.

Use Risers for Deep Cases

If your case is deeper than six inches, flat items like cards and coins disappear toward the back. Acrylic risers lift rear rows so you can see everything. Add a riser as a custom item in the builder with its real dimensions so you can plan around it.

Print Before You Move

Once your layout looks right on screen, hit Print Layout. Tape the printout inside the case door or prop it nearby while you arrange. It saves a lot of back-and-forth. The printout includes item names, sizes, and your shelf notes.

Example Layouts for Common Collections

Anime Figure Shelf

Three 6-inch figures on a 36-inch shelf with one centerpiece. The tall figure sits in the middle, flanked by two smaller ones. LED strip lighting from above. Leave two inches on each end for visual balance.

Card Display Row

Seven toploaders on a 36-inch shelf. Each toploader is about 3.5 inches wide. Use a small riser behind the back row if the case is deep. Group by team or color for a cleaner look.

Coin Collection

Three rows of coin capsules on a deep shelf. Front row has the most valuable pieces at eye level. Back rows use risers. A small spotlight on the center coin draws attention.

Questions Collectors Ask

Can I use metric measurements?
Yes. Toggle between inches and centimeters in the case settings. All items convert automatically.
How many items can I add?
There is no hard limit, but layouts with more than 60 items may feel slow on older devices. For large collections, try planning one shelf at a time.
Can I share my layout with someone?
Use the Share button to copy a link with your layout encoded in the URL. The person opening it will see your exact arrangement.
What if my case has dividers or risers?
Add divider lines in the canvas settings. For risers, create a custom item with the riser dimensions and mark it as a fixture so it stays in place.
Does this work on a phone?
The builder works on phones but is easier on a tablet or desktop. The canvas is touch-friendly for dragging items.
